Chapter 30: Is Gu Chacha Crazy
A reply quickly came from the other side of the screen: Goodnight, my baby. Did Dad say anything?
Gu Chacha rolled her eyes, put down her phone, and went to sleep.
Up on the third floor, He Huanhuan stared at the huge transfer on her phone, her brow tightly furrowed.
Han Mo had just sent her another sum of money, several times more than the previous hundred thousand.
What was he trying to do?
As soon as the thought crossed her mind, she called him immediately.
The call was answered quickly, and He Huanhuan asked impatiently, "Why did you transfer me money?"
The voice on the other end was calm and casual: "Afraid you wouldn't have enough to spend."
"Wait, what exactly are we to each other? Why does it matter to you whether I have enough or not?"
He Huanhuan's tone was sharp, but Han Mo, as if he hadn't heard her, replied steadily, "They say I'm your simp. Just think of it as an offering from a simp."
......
Who even gets addicted to being a simp?
After hanging up, she tossed her phone aside in irritation.
A knock came at the door, and Gu Jinghan's annoying voice sounded from outside: "Sister Huan, did you know your simp got fired?"
The door was yanked open, and He Huanhuan frowned at him. "What did you say?"
Gu Jinghan smirked slyly. "Exclusive news: Han Mo got kicked out of his family's company. Han Xuan took his position, and on his first day, he shut down all the projects Han Mo was handling."
"Is Han Xuan insane?"
He Huanhuan didn't know much about running a company, but she knew that abruptly stopping projects midway would lose a lot of money.
"Does their family have money to burn?"
Gu Jinghan nodded with disgust. "Han Xuan's been dim-witted since he was a kid, and he never grew out of it."
"Alright, I've got it."
He Huanhuan was about to close the door, but Gu Jinghan stuck his foot in to stop her. "Hold on, there's another bit of exclusive news—want to hear it?"
He Huanhuan glanced at him. "Where do you get so much exclusive news?"
Was he some kind of paparazzo?
Gu Jinghan grinned slyly. "Just say whether you want to hear it or not."
"Spill it."
"Gu Chacha and Han Xuan hooked up."
"What?"
He Huanhuan was genuinely shocked. "Is she crazy?"
Although Han Xuan and Han Mo were brothers, their looks weren't even close.
Han Xuan took after his father—big head, a stupid look.
A stupid, lecherous ugly bastard—how could Gu Chacha fall for him?
"And there's more!"
Gu Jinghan said in a gossipy tone. "They went to a hotel to hook up!"
"What?"
He Huanhuan frowned. "How did you find out?"
Something as private as a hotel meetup—how did Gu Jinghan know?
Gu Jinghan smirked proudly. "That hotel is mine."
"What?"
He Huanhuan was stunned again. "Aren't you just some trust fund kid?"
She had always thought Gu Jinghan was just a spoiled rich kid who only knew how to spend money!
Gu Jinghan couldn't hold back his smug grin. "Of course not! I opened it with my allowance back in college, and it actually took off!"
He hadn't told his family. He was waiting for the right moment to shock everyone with the news.
But not only did that moment never come—he ended up catching Gu Chacha and Han Xuang at a hotel!
He winked at He Huanhuan lecherously. "They stayed from check-in to check-out—twenty minutes total. Tsk tsk... Han Xuan's a real disappointment, kid!"
Taking a shower alone took at least ten minutes, then there was prep work, and a smoke afterward...
The actual act probably lasted less than five minutes.
Tsk tsk...
What a failure!
He Huanhuan glared at him. "Do we need the details?"
It turned her off!
Gu Jinghan asked her, "Don't you want to know why they ended up sleeping together?"
He Huanhuan pouted. "None of my business."
"Sister Huan, it does involve you."
Gu Jinghan turned serious. "She got together with Han Xuan only for the East City project. He must have promised her something tempting."
"The Han family and our family—you and Han Mo, her and Han Xuan—don't you think that has something to do with you?"
He Huanhuan dropped her eyes. "I don't like Han Mo. I don't plan on being with him."
In her world, she wouldn't even turn eighteen until next month.
Right now, dating would be considered early romance!
This was a world inside a book. To her, everything here was dramatic and unrelated.
She didn't want to get involved—not with Han Mo, not with the Gu family, not with the East City project.
She just wanted to coast along.
Gu Jinghan looked at her seriously. "Huanhuan, do you think Han Mo will let Han Xuan take everything from him? He won't give up."
"As long as you live here, you can't escape these things."
He Huanhuan bit her lower lip, feeling annoyed.
Dragged into such a game for no reason—she didn't like it at all.
Gu Chacha was annoying, Han Mo was annoying.
And that ugly bastard Han Xuan was even more irritating.
Since she couldn't control them, she might as well just go to sleep.
She'd take things step by step. See what that guy Gu Chacha was up to, and see what that guy Han Mo wanted.
The next day, as soon as she woke up, Han Mo sent her a message.
"Are you free today? Want to grab a meal together?"
He Huanhuan stared at her phone for a long time before replying, "Fine."
A reply came quickly from the other side: "I'll be at your place in ten minutes."
Ten minutes?
That jerk wasn't waiting outside her house, was he?
She wasn't wrong. Han Mo's car was indeed parked outside the Gu family estate, waiting.
As soon as her reply came, Han Mo drove in immediately, not giving her a chance to back out.
By the time she finished washing up and getting ready, Han Mo was already chatting with Old Mr. Gu.
The two sat on the sofa, idly making small talk—about her, about the weather—but not about business.
When she came downstairs, Old Mr. Gu smiled warmly and waved her over. "Han Mo has been waiting for you a long time. Go out and have fun with him."
Old Mr. Gu's smile was kind and open, making He Huanhuan wonder if he knew about Gu Chacha's plans.
Gu Chacha had been dropped off by Han Xuan last night, and Old Mr. Gu had seen it with his own eyes.
What was he thinking?
Was he weighing his options?
He Huanhuan couldn't figure it out. She just felt that rich people lived such boring lives.
Scheming and fighting over money.
But then she thought of those staggering sums and couldn't help but sigh.
Of course they had to scheme—it wasn't just tens of millions.
It was billions, hundreds of billions.
No wonder they couldn't stop.
It was like ancient princes fighting for the throne—the stakes were too high to ignore.
She was just a poor guy who had stumbled into the wrong circle, so she didn't fit in.
She quietly followed Han Mo out the door and got into the car.
As the car drove out of the estate, she remained silent.
Han Mo glanced sideways at her. "Why aren't you talking?"
He Huanhuan leaned her head against the window and looked at him blankly. "Do you know that Gu Chacha and Han Xuan slept together last night?"
"Hmm? What did you say?"
Han Mo looked at her in surprise, as if he hadn't understood her words.
She shrugged. "Slept together, you know... at a hotel..."
"Huanhuan."
Han Mo stopped her from continuing, his face slightly reddening. "I understand. That's enough."
No need to be so direct.
