Xiao You glanced out the window. It was almost time for dinner again. “That damn rich second-generation brat is going to come pick the two of them up for dinner soon.”

Every day, the restaurants Han Mo took them to were expensive places that required reservations.

The four of them could only sit outside, each with a cup of instant noodles, waiting for them. Wasn’t this miserable?

Sang Biao’s brows drew tightly together. “If those two never go anywhere alone, are we supposed to waste our whole lives here?”

He had to get back to Sawa! If he didn’t get a few hits soon, he was going to go crazy!

Extremely irritable, he stood up and kicked the table hard. “Damn it! I’m going downstairs and shooting the two of them right now! I have to get back to Sawa!”

With that, he charged over to Xiao Qian and tried to snatch the gun away. Xiao Qian immediately restrained him. “Calm down!”

“Calm down, my ass!”

He was so agitated he could barely stand it. “I feel like I’m dying! I can’t calm down! Fuck!”

Xiao Qian looked just as awful. “You think you’re the only one suffering? We’re all suffering! Who isn’t forcing themselves to hold out?”

Sawa had very lax controls on weed. All you had to do was find a small clinic, and they could legally prescribe it for you.

All four of them were regulars at those little clinics, every last one of them.

They had been back in the country for several days, and had been cut off from weed for just as long. By now, they were all suffering terribly from withdrawal.

Xiao Qian glanced darkly at his phone. It was five-thirty. The rich second-generation brat would be arriving again in no more than half an hour.

He shoved Sang Biao aside. “I’m calling Brother Bao.”

They might not be able to handle someone that rich, but that didn’t mean Brother Bao couldn’t.

The call was answered almost immediately. Brother Bao’s voice sounded lazy. “What? You got it done that quickly?”

Xiao Qian replied cautiously, “Brother Bao, this isn’t easy. Those two stay holed up in the hotel every day and never go out...”

The voice on the other end instantly turned cold and hard. “If it were easy, why would I have hired you? Are you trying to quit on me?”

Xiao Qian hurriedly shook his head, though the other man couldn’t see it. “No, we’re not trying to quit. It’s that Han guy. He takes them out to dinner every night. Brother Bao, can you think of something...?”

“You mean Han Mo...”

At the mention of Han Mo, Brother Bao’s voice softened considerably. “I know. I’ll arrange it.”

After hanging up, he scrolled through his phone and made another call. Only after receiving a definite answer from the other end did he end the call with satisfaction.

He stood up and walked out of the room. Gu Chacha was sitting in the living room drinking tea. He went over and sat down beside her.

“Go to dinner by yourself tonight. I have something to take care of, so I won’t be eating with you.”

Gu Chacha nodded. “Okay.”

He lowered his head to look at her. “Aren’t you curious what it is?”

Her heart suddenly began to race. “You mean...?”

A smile curled at the corner of his mouth. “That’s right. It’ll happen tonight.”

Unable to hold back, Gu Chacha asked, “Will it work?”

The matter had been dragging on for too long, and there had been too many variables. She couldn’t help feeling nervous.

Chen Jiarong rubbed his fingers twice between her brows. “Don’t worry. Nothing will happen. Even if it doesn’t work, it won’t be traced back to us.”

Gu Chacha nodded distractedly. Although Chen Jiarong had said that, she still felt inexplicably uneasy.

Chen Jiarong put an arm around her shoulders. “Why don’t you go have dinner with your big brother? You can ask him how the Dongcheng project is going while you’re there.”

Gu Chacha’s eyes flickered involuntarily. She had already asked her big brother a couple of days ago. He had told her that the project was settled and that he would not be bringing Chen Jiarong in on it.

But she didn’t know how to tell Chen Jiarong. She was afraid he would think she was useless and take his anger out on her.

She blinked and softly replied, “Okay. I’ll ask Big Brother out.”

Back at the hotel, the sisters had worked up a sweat after filming twenty mindless little videos.

Qi Meili carefully selected from the twenty clips, which featured almost exactly the same movements. “Why do I feel like my hair wasn’t done right? Should we film one more?”

He Huanhuan waved both hands. “No, I can’t anymore. I’m starving. We’ll film some more after we come back tonight.”

She could stay up all night filming, but right now she absolutely had to go eat!

Meili glanced at the time. It was already after six. No wonder she was hungry.

She leaned over beside He Huanhuan and asked, “Are we eating with Han Mo tonight?”

He Huanhuan nodded. “He’s already on the way. He said that restaurant got two three-kilogram deep-sea yellow croakers this afternoon, and he reserved them. We can go straight there and eat them.”

The two of them flopped onto the bed and searched up why a three-kilogram deep-sea yellow croaker was so rare. Then they quickly changed and sat around waiting for Han Mo.

He Huanhuan rubbed her hands together eagerly. “Meili, I think my mouth’s been spoiled. I could actually taste the fragrance of that wagyu yesterday. Do you know how terrifying that is?”

Meili nodded gravely. “Exactly! How about we go eat hot-and-spicy rice noodles after the yellow croaker tonight, just to bring ourselves back down to earth?”

Let technology corrupt their palates thoroughly, but not let them get carried away!

He Huanhuan nodded. “Sure, sure...”

Her phone screen lit up. It was Han Mo. His car had arrived downstairs.

The two of them sprang to their feet. A three-kilogram deep-sea yellow croaker was waiting for them!

On the eighteenth floor, the four men watched the rapidly moving location marker and stood up at once.

They were going back to Sawa tomorrow!

The car moved smoothly along the road. Han Mo handed his phone to He Huanhuan. “I’ve pinned the restaurant owner’s WeChat chat. Just tell him we’ll be there in ten minutes and ask him to start cooking.”

He Huanhuan took the phone and sent the owner the message. The other side quickly replied with an “OK.”

A few seconds later, Chen Jiarong’s WeChat buzzed. He, too, received an “OK.”

He lowered his head to look at Gu Chacha. “It’s time. Let’s go.”

Gu Chacha said nothing. She simply followed obediently behind him as they left.

The two of them drove separately toward the city center. He went to the restaurant, while she went to the company.

By the time she arrived at the office, it was already past closing time. The company building was eerily quiet. Her high heels clicked crisply against the floor, each sound striking her heart and making her even more unsettled.

She went up to the top floor and, standing outside the office, took a deep breath before knocking.

“Come in.”

A familiar voice drifted out from inside, calm and devoid of emotion.

She pushed open the door and looked at Gu Jingchen. Her lips immediately drew into a wounded pout. “Big Brother, are you angry with me?”

Gu Jingchen smiled and patted the desk. “Come sit down.”

He was always so gentle and considerate with her, which only made Gu Chacha feel more aggrieved. “Big Brother, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have argued with you last time...”

Gu Jingchen didn’t respond to her apology. Instead, he asked with a smile, “What made you think of asking Big Brother out to dinner today?”

Gu Chacha sat down demurely in front of the desk. “I missed you a little, so I wanted to come see you...”

“Is that so?”

A meaningful smile tugged at the corner of Gu Jingchen’s mouth. “It wasn’t Chen Jiarong who sent you here?”

“Oh, no.”

He tapped his knuckles against the desk and asked with a smile, “I should say, it wasn’t Brother Bao who sent you here?”

Gu Chacha’s face changed dramatically. “Big Brother, what are you talking about?!”
