Chapter 116: Looks Like Someone's Following
In the stairwell, Sang Biao crouched by the door, staring miserably at the three people in the lobby. “How can she let people see her shoulders...?”
Smack.
He got a slap on the head. Xiao Qian’s voice was full of disdain. “If you’re not going to do the job properly, get back to the room.”
Sang Biao looked aggrieved. “How am I not doing the job properly? I can’t even say a couple of words?”
Xiao Qian shot him a glare. “From now on, she’s a target. Nothing else. Got it?”
“Got it.”
Sang Biao secretly pouted. It wasn’t like he was planning to do anything.
They had already taken the job. Even if he didn’t make this money, Xiao Qian and the others would. Either way, she was going to die.
Besides, she ignored him completely. What could he possibly do?
He was just being sour for the sake of it.
He looked up at Xiao Qian. “So how are we doing this?”
Those two had a car picking them up whenever they went out, and as soon as they came back, they stuck to Gu Jinghan like glue. There was practically no chance to catch either of them alone.
Xiao Qian’s expression turned grave. “We need to find a way to lure Gu Jinghan away.”
They needed to leave themselves enough time to escape. At the very least, the domestic police couldn’t get on their trail before they boarded the plane.
So they couldn’t kill them at the hotel. There were too many surveillance cameras there; they would be discovered too easily.
They had to do it outside, preferably somewhere with as little surveillance as possible. That would require careful planning.
He kicked Sang Biao. “Go bother Qi Meili for a bit.”
Sang Biao’s eyes immediately lit up. “Xiao Qian, how come you’ve got a new idea every minute? Are you shipping our international BE couple? The ultimate tragic, life-and-death romance...”
He immediately received a hard kick in the backside. “Get going!”
“Okay, okay!”
He flung open the door and charged outside. “Meili! How can you let people see your bare shoulders?”
He spread his arms, trying to hug Qi Meili, but she instantly ducked down to evade him. Then she stomped hard on the top of his foot!
“Ah!”
Sang Biao howled, clutching his foot. Qi Meili jumped up and slapped him across the head.
“Didn’t I tell you—”
Smack!
“Every time I see you, I’ll hit you!”
Smack!
“Get the hell away from me!”
“Meili!”
Sang Biao grabbed her in a bear hug and wailed dramatically, “Even if you hit me, I still love you! You’re the one I love most! Hit me, hit me, hit me...”
“Let her go!”
Gu Jianghan’s face darkened at once. He stepped forward and grabbed Sang Biao. “Why are you putting your hands all over a girl? Let go!”
Meanwhile, He Huanhuan simply reached over and shoved at his face. “Stay away from my Meili!”
But Sang Biao ignored them completely, only tightening his hold on the person in his arms.
The scene instantly descended into chaos. Taking advantage of the confusion, Xiao Qian pushed open the door and darted out. With a quick sidestep, he squeezed into the melee.
“Let go of the young lady!”
He shouted loudly, but his hand immediately reached for the side of Qi Meili’s waist. In a flash, he unzipped her waist pouch and slipped a tracker into its inner compartment.
His hands were incredibly fast. The entire thing took less than five seconds, and none of the three people caught up in the chaos noticed a thing.
After zipping the pouch back up, he immediately turned and hooked an arm around Sang Biao’s neck, dragging him away. “Sorry, sorry... I’ll make sure to keep an eye on him next time...”
He bowed and apologized repeatedly to Qi Meili, then gave Sang Biao another hard kick. “Apologize! Promise you’ll never bother her again!”
Sang Biao promptly dropped to his knees. “I was wrong. I’ll never harass you again...”
Meili was sick of seeing his face. “Get lost, get lost, get lost...”
“Sorry, sorry...”
Xiao Qian hurriedly dragged Sang Biao into the elevator. Once inside, Sang Biao’s miserable expression vanished instantly.
“Well? Did you pull it off?”
Xiao Qian looked surprised. “You knew what I was doing?”
A sly smile tugged at Sang Biao’s lips. “Come on, man. How many years have we known each other? You think I don’t know your little tricks?”
Planting a tracker wasn’t exactly hard to figure out. And Xiao Qian had tried to keep it from him—like he would ever sabotage the operation.
Sang Biao put away his frivolous expression and solemnly patted Xiao Qian on the shoulder. “I know what matters, bro. Once we get back to Sawa, drinks are on me.”
Xiao Qian nodded. “Let’s get back to the room. Little Zuo and Little You should be back soon.”
The moment they pushed open the door, the dark muzzle of a gun was pressed against their heads.
“Don’t move!”
Before the words had even faded, Xiao Qian snatched the gun away. The instant he seized the barrel, he shoved the other man onto the bed and swung the gun around, aiming it at the person lying there.
“That’s all you’ve got?”
The man on the bed lay sprawled out with a grin. “I was just messing around. Why so serious?”
Xiao Qian put the gun away, his face grim. “What we’re about to do isn’t a game. If anything goes wrong, we won’t make it back to Sawa. You want to stay in China and go to prison?”
Xiao You sat up, still grinning. “Brother Bao got us two guns. How could we possibly fail?”
In Sawa, they had failed because they were unlucky. They had run into a police officer who was highly skilled in a fight; they simply couldn’t beat him.
This time was different. They had seen both girls in person, as well as in photos. There wouldn’t be any problems.
There were four of them now, and they had two guns. How could they possibly fail to kill two young women?
If they couldn’t manage even that, what kind of gangsters were they? They might as well wash their hands of it all, go back home, and work in a factory.
“Holy crap, it’s a real gun!”
Sang Biao snatched the gun from Xiao Qian’s hand and stroked it fondly.
He remembered that gun control in China was extremely strict. Brother Bao had actually managed to get hold of these?
He was endlessly curious. “How did Brother Bao get them?”
Xiao Qian snatched the gun back. “None of our business. Just do your job.”
He carefully put the gun away. Neither weapon had a suppressor, so unless they had no other choice, it was best not to use them.
He opened his phone and synced Qi Meili’s location. It was almost exactly on top of their own location.
It was already late. The girls should have returned to their room to sleep.
He placed the phone on the table, and the four of them took turns watching the tracker.
In the middle of the night, Sang Biao was exhausted and couldn’t help asking, “Why don’t I just go downstairs, knock on their door, and shoot both of them right now?”
They could call a car after killing them and head straight to the airport for the earliest flight back to Sawa. Wouldn’t that work?
Xiao Qian glared at him. “You think we’re in Sawa?”
If they dared to go that crazy, heavily armed forces would be waiting for them before their car even reached the airport.
Xiao Qian had no intention of ending up behind bars.
For the next two days, the four of them did nothing but keep watch from the hotel.
But He Huanhuan and Qi Meili had plenty of ways to entertain themselves. During the day, they never went out, just stayed in their room eating, drinking, and playing around.
In the evening, Han Mo would drive over to take them out to dinner. Afterward, he would bring them back to the hotel.
The two of them would chat with Gu Jinghan at the hotel reception for a while before returning to their room to sleep.
There was never a single moment when either of them was alone.
Sang Biao stared at the motionless tracker, irritated out of his mind. “What’s with them? Don’t they get bored cooped up in their room all day?”
They were not bored. Not even a little. At that very moment, the two of them were enthusiastically doing flashy hand-dance moves in front of the enormous TV screen.
