Chapter 91: Hehe, She Picked Up a Good Husband
Twenty minutes ago, Shen Linyan received a photo from An Ling.
In the photo, the woman's hand rested gently under a cat's chin, her slender fingers appearing almost porcelain-white in the sunlight.
Wife: [Isn't it cute (๑••๑)~]
At that moment, Shen Linyan completely froze.
Only one thought occupied his mind.
His wife was home.
In their home.
During the few days they hadn't seen each other, he never felt like he was missing An Ling.
Compared to his state right after their divorce, being able to talk on the phone every night had left him feeling quite satisfied.
That was all he needed.
But the moment he opened the door and saw the woman in the house, Shen Linyan knew he was wrong.
He missed An Ling so much.
He missed her so much that he couldn't sleep even after hanging up the phone every night.
He wanted to hold his wife, wanted to hear her voice with his own ears.
It had been so, so long since he last saw his wife at home.
So long that seeing this scene now almost brought him to tears.
His heart felt as if it were soaking in warm water, a bittersweet ache spreading through his entire body. Shen Linyan's breathing trembled, his legs feeling as heavy as lead.
He tried his best to suppress the urge to pull the woman into his arms. Kneeling on the floor, he reached out and gently cradled her face.
He lowered his head and kissed her.
"I missed you..."
His scalding breath wrapped around endless yearning. He kissed her over and over, his movements lacking any rhythm or technique, driven only by the most primal desire and love.
Suddenly kissed out of nowhere, An Ling looked up and blinked, seemingly failing to process the situation.
A moment later, she suddenly opened her mouth and lightly bit the man's lip, lowering her voice. "Chairman Shen, the cameras are rolling."
Shen Linyan's body stiffened slightly. Realizing what she meant, he looked up.
In an instant, several cameras came into view.
An Ling had only come here to install the equipment.
He hurriedly let go and pulled away. With a somewhat flustered gaze, he kept his body rigid and asked softly, "Sorry... I'm still not used to this. Will this cause you trouble?"
But the next second, a soft chuckle rang in his ears.
The woman covered her mouth, her eyes curving into crescents in the sunlight, her beautiful brown eyes brimming with amusement.
"I'm tricking you, they aren't turned on yet."
Shen Linyan paused. Once he realized he'd been had, he smiled helplessly and sat on the floor. "Where are your colleagues?"
Huihui had climbed onto the cat tree at some point. It lay there watching them, its tail swishing back and forth.
"They went back first. I stayed behind to double-check things, and to see Huihui while I was at it."
As An Ling spoke, she raised her hand and shook the last bit of freeze-dried treats.
Huihui instantly jumped down, poked its little head over, and ate the snack from her hand. Then, without looking back, it jumped back onto the tree, leaving them with nothing but an aloof tail.
An Ling smiled and dusted off her hands.
"I only have an hour... No."
She glanced at the wall clock.
"To be precise, I only have half an hour of break time left. Waiting for a certain someone to come home has already used up half of my lunch break."
Saying this, she looked up at the man beside her.
Her eyes slowly curved into a smile as she reached out her hand.
"So, do you want to kiss?"
Shen Linyan looked stunned for a moment, then smiled and took the woman's hand. He gently pulled her into his arms, lowered his head, and kissed her.
"Yes."
Under the sunlight, the man and woman embraced intimately, bathed in a pale golden halo. The air itself seemed to hold a warm hue.
Shen Linyan lowered his head and kissed the woman's face bit by bit. "I'll take you back to the office later. Do you want to go to the bedroom and sleep for a while?"
The man's scent was crisp and clean. An Ling tilted her head and rested on his shoulder, feeling warm and cozy under the sun.
She closed her eyes. "I won't sleep. Resting like this for a bit is enough."
Remembering the cameras, she opened her eyes again and pointed toward the rooms.
"Cameras are only installed in the living room and kitchen; there are none in the bedroom. But don't worry, I'll have the editor cut you out."
"Okay." The man rubbed his tall nose against her cheek.
Tickled by his nuzzling, An Ling tried to dodge to the side.
But the man chased after her, his eyes curving as he kissed her eyes.
Seeing Shen Linyan like this, An Ling recalled what happened that night and suddenly found it a bit funny.
"The last time Wen Yuche took me home, he told me you weren't a good person and told me to stay away from you."
An Ling hadn't believed Wen Yuche's words at all.
Did she really not know whether Shen Linyan was a good person or not?
How bad could a person who rescues small animals really be?
It would be one thing if An Zhou said that; after all, he had projects snatched away by Shen Linyan, so he had never found Shen Linyan pleasing to the eye.
But why was an outsider chiming in?
Thinking of this, she sat up straight and doubtfully touched the man's face.
"Our Chairman Shen is so good-looking, but why does it feel like your popularity is so poor?"
This world was too biased against Shen Linyan.
His parents at home played favorites, and he was ostracized outside for being too capable. Could it be that only the female lead could discover his good qualities?
Oh wait, now there was also her.
Hehe, she had picked up a good husband.
An Ling thought happily, completely oblivious to the subtle change in the man's eyes.
Shen Linyan lowered his gaze and chuckled, dropping a kiss on the corner of her lips.
"Yes. So, could my wife dote on me a little more?"
The man's gentle voice was very soft, its trailing notes carrying a faint, almost imperceptible sigh.
An Ling blinked and cupped his face.
"Today I can. How do you want me to dote on you? I have to head back to the office soon."
The man lifted his thick, dense eyelashes. His handsome features carried a gentle nobility. His fingertips grasped the back of the woman's neck, slowly and quietly slipping into her collar, hooking the fabric and pulling it down.
His fingers were long and distinct, his movements unhurried, exuding a sense of ambiguous desire.
"My wife wore a turtleneck sweater today..."
His eyes were pitch-black, like the dark, deep sea—bottomless, yet enticing one to fall in.
Realizing what he was getting at, An Ling's face reddened slightly.
She lowered her head and mumbled softly, "Be gentle. I can't wear a turtleneck every day."
"Alright."
Smiling, the man kissed her neck.
As his scalding thin lips pressed against her skin, An Ling's face grew even redder than before.
The sensation of his light suction made her spine tingle. Feeling his wet tongue slowly lick across her neck, mist gathered in her eyes. Her lower back slumped slightly as she let out a trembling gasp, a strange, dense numbness sweeping over her entire body.
Her slender fingers gripped the man's shoulders tightly, wrinkling his expensive custom suit.
The man's powerful arm gently wrapped around her waist, the warmth of his broad palm transmitting through the fabric.
An Ling tilted her head, panting. She instinctively turned her head, only to meet the round eyes of the little cat.
"!"
Her eyes suddenly widened, her face flushing crimson. Even her ears were almost red enough to bleed. With a soft voice, she whispered, "That's enough... Huihui is watching, and I need to get back to the office."
Shen Linyan lifted his eyelids, glanced at the cat on the cat tree, and kissed the mark on the woman's neck.
His eyes curved as he raised his hands to help her adjust her clothes.
"I'll take you back to the office."
...
After returning to the office, An Ling put on her employee badge.
The heating in the office was ample. She took off her coat, feeling a bit hot, and subconsciously tugged at her collar.
Remembering something, her gaze instantly froze, and she unnaturally lowered her arm.
Sitting in silence for a moment, An Ling quietly picked up the small mirror nearby.
After confirming that no one was around, she slowly pulled open her collar and tilted her neck.
There, resting starkly upon her fair neck, was an ambiguous hickey.
Blushing, she let go and readjusted her collar, muttering under her breath, "I'll have to wear clothes that cover my neck even at home."
How many days would it take for this to fade?
The very next second, a woman's voice unexpectedly rang out from behind her.
"Ah Leng, do you have a fever? Why is your face so red?"
