Chapter 128: Four Million
The landlord’s expression darkened further at that. “So what? If I can’t sell it, I just won’t sell it! Are you buying or not? If not...”
He impatiently waved a hand, wanting to drive them away. All they knew how to do was haggle. What a nuisance!
He was selling the house so he could take the money and travel around the country. He didn’t like traveling on a shoestring. What was the point of roughing it? You couldn’t eat well, sleep well, or stay anywhere decent. What was there left to enjoy?
Travel was supposed to be comfortable: good food, good drinks, good sights, and good sleep. You had to take your time eating, playing, and sleeping.
That was why he couldn’t bear to lower the price of the house even a little.
But the listing had been up for several months. Fewer and fewer people came to view the place, while more and more wanted to haggle.
It was driving him crazy, and he had already postponed his travel plans three or four times!
Before he could finish telling them to leave, Han Mo suddenly handed him a dark green card glinting with a golden sheen.
“Mr. Jin, I’ve looked at your social media profile. You’re planning to travel around the country for the next five years, aren’t you?”
The landlord suspiciously glanced at the card, then found that he couldn’t take his eyes off it. “This is...”
A confident smile curved Han Mo’s lips. “A Jin Yue Hotel VIP card. The chain operates nationwide, and it gives you fifty percent off year-round on deluxe suites...”
The landlord’s eyes grew brighter with every word. “Th-this is for me?”
He couldn’t help reaching out to take the card, but Han Mo pulled it back. “How about we discuss the price again? We’ll pay in full.”
“Discuss, discuss... Of course we can discuss...”
He knew about Jin Yue. You needed to spend more than two hundred thousand yuan a year at the hotel to upgrade to a VIP card!
Licking his lips, the landlord asked Han Mo, “How many years does it last?”
Han Mo smiled. “Five.”
Not one year more or less—exactly five years, which happened to be the length of his planned trip around the country.
That would take care of the landlord for the next five years.
The landlord’s heart began to race. Whenever he traveled, he stayed only in five-star hotels.
According to his original plan, hotel accommodations and meals would account for the bulk of his expenses on this trip around the country.
With this VIP card, he could cut his hotel expenses in half and put more money toward food!
It was practically a VIP card made specifically for him!
And it really had been made specifically for him. The hotels all belonged to Han Mo. How many years the card lasted and what discount it offered were entirely up to him.
The landlord’s heart fluttered again and again. Finally, he cautiously asked, “How about you knock off fifty thousand?”
His accommodation budget was five hundred yuan a night. Over five years, that would come to more than nine hundred thousand yuan.
With this VIP card, he could save over four hundred thousand.
But he couldn’t put all of that saving into the price of the house. Otherwise, it would be no different from buying the VIP card himself.
He calculated silently. One hundred thousand—he could lower the price by ten thousand at most...
As though he had heard the landlord’s thoughts, Han Mo said with uncanny precision, “One hundred thousand, then. How about two million four hundred thousand? If that works for you, we can complete the transaction today.”
Two million four hundred thousand yuan in cash, plus a VIP card valid for five years. The landlord agreed without a second thought.
“Deal! Two million four hundred thousand!”
As soon as the transfer was complete, he would leave for his travels. He wouldn’t waste even a single day!
Once the landlord nodded, everything else was simple.
Gu Jinghan had his brother’s black card tucked in his arms. They signed the contract, swiped the card, paid the taxes, and completed the transfer.
He Huanhuan soon received the property deed that belonged to her. She now had a home of her own in Jiangcheng.
She stared at the name on the deed, unable to believe it. “I actually have a home of my own?”
The feeling was so strange and wonderful, as if her heart had suddenly found somewhere to settle.
She had lived in a huge villa at the Gu residence before, and in a lavish suite at Gu Jinghan’s hotel. But this felt completely different.
Her heart had finally found a home—a real, tangible place to belong.
She looked up at Qi Meili. “Meili, I didn’t touch the money in my account. We should buy you a place later too. Having a home feels amazing!”
Qi Meili smacked her lightly, exasperated. “Why waste that money? Your home is my home too! What, are you planning to leave me out?”
The market wasn’t doing well right now. What was the point of buying so many houses? Just leave them sitting there while their value dropped?
He Huanhuan shook her head with a silly grin. “How could I? This is our home—the home we’ll have for the rest of our lives.”
In this world, Qi Meili was the closest person she had. How could she possibly not let Meili live with her?
This was their home. Their forever home.
Only after the deed was safely in hand did she remember the VIP card.
Embarrassed, she asked Han Mo, “That VIP card you gave away must cost you quite a bit, right?”
Han Mo shook his head with a smile. “Once he has this card, Jin Yue will be his first choice whenever he travels. He won’t consider other hotels. It’s a win-win situation, isn’t it?”
He wasn’t lying about that. An empty hotel room made no money.
Even at half price, as long as the landlord stayed there, Han Mo would still earn.
Over five years, the landlord would contribute at least four or five hundred thousand yuan in revenue to the hotel.
The VIP card really was a win-win.
What actually cost him money, however, was something he hadn’t told He Huanhuan.
He Huanhuan’s new residential complex consisted of the most traditional layout: two homes per floor, with the doors directly facing each other.
After He Huanhuan bought the landlord’s place, Han Mo took a liking to the apartment opposite hers.
He wanted to buy it so he could become He Huanhuan’s neighbor.
They could see each other whenever they looked up or lowered their heads, and they’d run into each other every time one of them opened or closed the door. That kind of constant contact would make their relationship more secure.
After all, he still hadn’t officially become her boyfriend.
The family living opposite He Huanhuan consisted of three generations under one roof and two children. It was the only home they owned, so they had no plans to sell anytime soon.
But Han Mo made a generous offer right from the start: two million eight hundred thousand yuan.
Two million eight hundred thousand might not sound like much—only three hundred thousand more than the price of He Huanhuan’s apartment.
But He Huanhuan’s apartment had been solidly renovated, barely lived in, and was practically new. Even so, the landlord had only asked for two million five hundred thousand.
This family had two mischievous children, and with so many people living there, the apartment had already been thoroughly worn down.
With two million eight hundred thousand in hand, they could immediately buy another apartment with the same layout and newer renovations, while still having two or three hundred thousand left over.
How hard was it for an ordinary family to save two or three hundred thousand yuan?
At their age, with elderly parents above and young children below, they could work themselves to the bone for five or six years and still might not manage to save three hundred thousand.
Naturally, the family was instantly tempted. The deal had practically been finalized, but just before they signed the contract, a spoiler suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
That spoiler was Liang Zheng.
No one knew where he had heard the news, but he raised the price to three million yuan without hesitation. The family immediately threw themselves into Liang Zheng’s arms.
Three million!
They could use the money to buy another apartment with the exact same layout and still have five hundred thousand left over.
Good heavens! The internet was always shouting that life was impossible on an annual salary below five hundred thousand, but in the real world, how many families could casually produce five hundred thousand yuan in cash?
Almost none.
They had to sell to Liang Zheng. They absolutely had to sell to Liang Zheng!
The contract had already been printed, and everyone was seated together. Yet just like that, the deal fell through.
Han Mo’s face turned black. He called Liang Zheng. “We don’t have any history between us, do we?”
On the other end, Liang Zheng laughed. “I’m not getting any younger either. It’s time I moved out and got a place of my own.”
Last time, Han Mo had snatched his Labubu. This time, Liang Zheng had snatched his apartment. It was only fair—one for one.
Han Mo tapped his knuckles against the table. “The contract hasn’t been signed. Nothing’s final yet, is it?”
Wasn’t it just a matter of raising the price? It wasn’t as if he couldn’t afford to do that.
And so, without He Huanhuan or Qi Meili knowing, the two men vying for her affection began driving up the price against each other.
Three million three hundred thousand, three million five hundred thousand, three million eight hundred thousand, four million...
Watching the price skyrocket, the homeowner’s whole family felt as if their hearts were about to stop.
Good heavens! They weren’t dreaming, were they? If this was a dream, please don’t let them wake up! Don’t wake up!
If He Huanhuan knew about this, her heart would stop too!
What were they fighting over? Did they think money grew on trees? They were bidding on her house! She’d sell it!
Four million? She’d sell!
