Chapter 106: Where Is Her Blonde-Haired, Blue-Eyed Handsome Guy
He Huanhuan was puzzled. “When did you meet a handsome foreign guy?”
Qi Meili pulled up a photo on her phone. “We met online. He’s insanely handsome. His eyes are this gorgeous blue-green—absolutely mesmerizing at first sight~”
He Huanhuan glanced at the screen. The man in the photo had fair skin, deep-set features, and sharply defined features.
His vivid blue-green eyes paired with his light blond hair made him undeniably handsome.
Unable to hold back her curiosity, she asked, “Where on earth did you meet someone that good-looking?”
With features this perfect, she figured you could only see a face like that on the runway at some high-end modeling show.
Qi Meili gave her a sly smile. “On an English-learning community app. Liang Ye told me to download it.”
“Liang Ye?”
He Huanhuan hadn’t expected Liang Ye to be involved. “Why did he tell you to download it?”
Qi Meili shook her head. “No idea. He asked me for a favor, and it wasn’t any trouble, so I helped him.”
As for the reason, she hadn’t bothered to ask.
She probably should have. Although the app was a global English-learning community, most of its users were from Southeast Asia.
Someone as exceptionally model-like as the man in the photo would never normally show up in a community like that.
So why was Liang Ye on the app?
Because it was free.
He didn’t want to work at the village committee and was hoping to transfer to the residents’ committee near their apartment complex.
But there was an international community near their complex, where all kinds of foreign residents lived.
So the job listing for the residents’ committee had an additional requirement: applicants had to be fluent in spoken English.
He wanted to learn English, but he was too stingy to pay for classes or hire a foreign tutor. So he bounced from one free app to another, shamelessly sending people messages like, “Say hello,” and, “Can I communicate with you in English?”
The app Qi Meili downloaded had a daily limit on greetings to strangers.
However, every successful referral earned the user ten extra greetings.
And for the referral to count, the new user had to successfully greet a stranger on the app at least once.
Liang Ye bombarded Qi Meili with eighteen messages in a row. He annoyed her so much that she finally downloaded the app.
She randomly picked a handsome profile picture, sent him a quick greeting, and was about to uninstall the app when, unexpectedly, the handsome guy replied within seconds.
The warm, exotic hunk instantly convinced her to stay. They chatted about everything under the sun for several days, after which the guy said he was coming to China to meet her.
Qi Meili had never met a foreigner that handsome before, so she agreed without a second thought.
She even thoughtfully booked him a ride-hailing car, sending it straight from the airport to his hotel.
He Huanhuan clicked her tongue. “You’re having an online romance with a foreigner? Is that even reliable?”
Qi Meili glanced at the ride’s location on her phone. “How can you call it an online romance? I only called him ‘big brother’ twice, and he was already hooked. Foreign boys are so easy to sweet-talk.”
She looked up at He Huanhuan. “Remind me to get the fare back from him later.”
Jason didn’t have any of the ride-hailing apps used in China, so she had booked the car for him.
But the first rule of Qi Meili’s man-appreciation code was simple: never spend money on a man.
There was a saying online—something like, “Spend money on a man, and you’ll be unlucky for the rest of your life.”
Qi Meili thought that saying was absolutely right!
So she had to get the ride fare back.
But she was afraid that seeing a handsome guy would make her mind go blank, so she asked He Huanhuan to remind her.
A ride from the airport would cost over eighty yuan. Way too expensive.
She curled her hair into pretty, girlish waves, cleared her throat, and put on the perfect sweet-girl voice.
Qi Meili pressed her lips together and flashed He Huanhuan a sugary smile. “Come on, let’s go meet the handsome guy!”
Meanwhile, in the ride-hailing car, Xiao Qian stared at the photos on his phone, utterly speechless. “Using fake photos for online dating is one thing, but why the hell did you use a foreigner’s photo?”
Sang Biao was wracked with guilt. “I didn’t mean to catfish her. I used that picture as my profile photo, and she thought I really looked like that. She was so sweet to me...”
She called him “big brother,” and even sent him such sweet selfies. How could he not fall for her?
By the time he’d come to his senses, there was no turning back.
Heaven only knew how hard he’d worked to find the Instagram account of the guy in the profile picture!
All those foreign hunks looked exactly the same to him: big eyes, high noses, the works. They were genuinely impossible to tell apart.
In fact, he’d gotten it wrong before.
Of the photos he’d sent Meili, at least three different handsome men had made an appearance.
But as luck would have it, Qi Meili couldn’t tell them apart either.
So the two of them carried on chatting for several days, each mistake building on the other. Qi Meili sent him several voice messages, and whenever he opened one, a sweet voice would coo, “Big brother, what are you doing~~”
Oh no!
He was in love!
He cast Xiao Qian an ingratiating glance. “When we get there, don’t expose me, okay?”
Xiao Qian was speechless. “Do you really think this is a matter of whether I expose you or not? You look absolutely nothing like the guy in those photos! She’ll be able to tell at a glance!”
“You’re not even the same race, for crying out loud!”
This online romance was doomed from the start.
Unexpectedly, Sang Biao wagged his index finger. “You just don’t get it. Have you heard the saying, ‘Since you’ve come all this way’?”
If he hadn’t returned to China, his baby would have discovered the catfishing online, and that would have been the end of it.
But he had traveled thousands of miles back to China and pursued love all the way to her doorstep.
Sure, he’d used fake photos, but as long as he wasn’t so ugly that he could shake the heavens and earth, there was no way things would fall apart.
Xiao You nearly burst out laughing. “Oh, stop talking nonsense. By your logic, what about that three-hundred-kilo girl you dated online last time? She came all that way too, so why didn’t you get together with her?”
To everyone’s surprise, Sang Biao answered with a perfectly straight face, “I did get together with her.”
She’d come all the way to Sava for him. How could he just send her home?
Besides, she was only a little on the plump side.
If you looked closely, she was actually quite pretty and delicate...
Xiao You fell silent. Was that really “a little on the plump side”? The girl had genuinely weighed three hundred kilos. That wasn’t an exaggeration—it was an objective description.
Xiao Zuo couldn’t help asking, “Then why didn’t she come back afterward? What, did she dump you?”
Sang Biao immediately fell silent. The others fell silent too.
So he really had been dumped by that huge girl?
Why?
Sang Biao said not to ask. Some things were better left unsaid.
Xiao Qian’s head was throbbing from listening to all this. “Oh, for heaven’s sake. I give up on you. You’re such a complete weirdo!”
He couldn’t be bothered to get involved anymore. The moment the car reached their destination, he was leaving. He absolutely refused to get dragged into Sang Biao’s ridiculous mess.
Even if that girl beat him to death, he was determined not to get involved. Serves him right!
That was what he was thinking when the car quickly came to a stop. The ride-hailing driver’s eyes lit up like copper bells. “Passenger, we’ve arrived at your destination!”
This was going to be good! He couldn’t wait to see whether this young fellow was about to get beaten up.
At the entrance to the hotel, Qi Meili saw on her phone that the car had pulled up right in front of them, and she instantly grew excited. “Huanhuan’s here, he’s here...”
Her gorgeous, blond-haired, blue-eyed hunk had arrived!
Their gazes quickly locked onto the black car by the roadside. The door slowly opened, and one sharp-looking young man stepped out. Then another...
By the time the door had closed completely, four sharp-looking young men were standing in a neat row. Qi Meili felt the sky come crashing down.
“Wait—what happened to my blond-haired, blue-eyed hunk?”
Where was he???
