Chapter 4: Spatial Fusion
Two Orange Rewards? Or Two of Them?
[Stasis Space: Can be merged with the Yunhua Space to form an independent stasis zone. It can store any supplies, keeping them permanently fresh and at the proper temperature. Time is frozen within it, and nothing will ever spoil!]
[Soul Refining Art: A top-tier technique for cultivating the divine soul. It can temper the soul, strengthen the spirit, and protect against the risk of the soul being torn apart when traveling through space. With long-term cultivation, the strength of the divine soul can be increased!]
There was a rare trace of shock and envy in System 0018’s voice.
[Wow! Host, you’re incredibly lucky! You got two Orange rewards on your very first check-in. The odds of that are even lower than winning a hundred-million-yuan lottery jackpot!]
[The reward levels, from lowest to highest, are White, Green, Blue, Purple, Orange, Red, and Multicolored. Orange rewards are already considered rare.
Very few people draw Orange or Red rewards, and no one has ever drawn a Multicolored reward. You got two Orange rewards at once—you’re practically blessed by the god of luck!]
The corners of Zhang Yanyan’s lips lifted, and her mood brightened considerably.
The Stasis Space was perfect for stockpiling supplies. Her supermarket restocked automatically to begin with, and with the Stasis Space’s ability to keep everything permanently fresh, she would never have to worry about anything spoiling, no matter how much she stored.
The Soul Refining Art was even more essential. She would be traveling through countless minor worlds in the future, and as long as her soul was strong enough, she wouldn’t have to worry about being torn apart by space. Her safety would be guaranteed.
This first check-in had been an absolute windfall!
“Not bad. I’m very satisfied.” Zhang Yanyan barely managed to suppress her excitement, her mood thoroughly delighted.
Just then, someone gently knocked on the bedroom door. A warm voice came from outside.
“Miss, are you awake? Breakfast is ready. Come downstairs and eat.”
It was Auntie Chen, who had worked for the Zhang family for more than a decade. She had watched the original host grow up and was honest and dependable, treating the original host extremely well.
Zhang Yanyan immediately answered, “I’m awake, Auntie Chen. I’ll be down in a moment.”
She got out of bed and walked into the dressing room. When she opened the wardrobe, she found it filled with all kinds of designer clothes, handbags, and shoes. The dazzling array nearly made her eyes blur.
The original host had good taste. Her clothes were all simple and elegant. Zhang Yanyan chose a white cotton T-shirt and paired it with a pair of light-blue jeans—simple, comfortable, and practical.
After changing, she took another look at the jewelry box in the dressing room inside the space.
Only gold and silver jewelry remained inside: gold necklaces, gold bracelets, and gold rings, all arranged neatly and filling the box. Every piece of jade jewelry—the jade bangles, jade pendants, and jade drop ornaments—had vanished, leaving behind nothing but empty holders.
Zhang Yanyan understood immediately.
The jade had all been transferred by the system to the area beside the spirit spring in the Yunhua Space, where it had been used as the space’s initial source of energy.
From now on, she would keep the jewelry she retained in the dressing room. Whenever she wanted to charge the space, she could simply toss the jade into the spirit spring. The spring would automatically dissolve it and convert it into energy.
The Zhang family had more than enough money. She would have plenty of opportunities to buy more jade in the future and fill the Yunhua Space with energy, unlocking more of its functions.
Once she had finished getting ready, Zhang Yanyan opened the bedroom door and went downstairs.
The living room on the first floor was spacious and bright. In the dining room stood an exquisite solid-wood table, and Auntie Chen had already brought breakfast over: millet porridge, boiled eggs, steamed soup dumplings, and stir-fried vegetables. They were all dishes the original host loved—and exactly the kind of home cooking Zhang Yanyan enjoyed as well.
“Miss, it looks like you slept well last night. You seem to be in a good mood today.” Auntie Chen greeted her with a smile and took the coat Zhang Yanyan had casually draped over her arm. “You went to bed so late yesterday that I thought you’d sleep in today.”
“I couldn’t sleep, so I woke up early. I’m used to it.” Zhang Yanyan smiled and walked over to the table. Picking up her chopsticks, she said, “Auntie Chen’s cooking still smells as good as ever. I’m starving.”
The compliment made Auntie Chen beam.
“If you’re hungry, eat more. I simmered the millet porridge for over an hour, so it’s wonderfully soft and creamy. You’re about to start college, and you’re at the age when you’re still growing. You mustn’t go hungry.”
“Mm, I know.” Zhang Yanyan nodded and took small sips of the millet porridge. The warm porridge slid into her stomach, making her feel wonderfully comfortable.
“Your husband and wife are still abroad on a business trip,” Auntie Chen said as she placed a steamed soup dumpling in Zhang Yanyan’s bowl. “They said they won’t be able to come back until after school starts, when they have some free time. They specifically told me to take good care of you. If you’re lacking anything or need something, just let me know.”
“I know, Auntie Chen. I’m not lacking anything.” Zhang Yanyan paused, then added, “By the way, Auntie Chen, I’m going out today. I’ll drive myself, so there’s no need to send the chauffeur with me.”
She needed to buy seeds, farming tools, livestock and poultry, and fish fry so she could make full use of the three mu of farmland, the fishpond, and the back mountain in the Yunhua Space and begin her farming life. She didn’t want outsiders to know about these things, so driving herself was the safest option.
“All right. Be careful on the road, Miss.” Auntie Chen didn’t ask any questions and simply reminded her attentively, “Come back early. I’ll make your favorite braised fish for dinner.”
“Okay. Thank you, Auntie Chen.”
Zhang Yanyan quickly finished breakfast, said goodbye to Auntie Chen, picked up the car keys, and walked out of the villa.
The Zhang family’s home was a standalone estate. Several cars were parked in the garage, but Zhang Yanyan chose an unassuming white Audi Q5. It was easy to drive without being too flashy, making it suitable for running errands.
Once inside, she opened the navigation system and searched for Rong City’s largest suburban comprehensive agricultural market. After confirming the location of the market’s storage and logistics area, she stepped on the accelerator and drove there first.
The things she wanted to buy were varied and numerous. Her own car couldn’t possibly hold them all. More importantly, she couldn’t expose the existence of the Yunhua Space. Renting a temporary warehouse for transferring the goods was the safest option. That way, everything could be delivered to one place, and she could avoid prying eyes while quietly moving the supplies into the space.
When she arrived at the storage area, Zhang Yanyan went straight to the management office and stated her requirements clearly.
“I’d like to rent a temporary warehouse with a loading and unloading area for just one day. It needs to be large enough, have comprehensive security around the premises, and there must be no surveillance cameras inside.”
The staff quickly completed the arrangements for her. She chose an independent transfer warehouse located toward the inner part of the industrial park. It had security patrols around the clock and no cameras inside. After paying the rent and receiving the key, Zhang Yanyan drove to the agricultural market.
The agricultural supply market carried every kind of crop seed imaginable. Vegetables, grains, fruits, and miscellaneous cereals were all available in a dazzling variety.
Zhang Yanyan walked up to the largest and most reputable seed shop. The owner immediately greeted her enthusiastically.
“Miss, here to buy seeds? What kind are you looking for? We have everything. I guarantee a high germination rate and excellent yields!”
“I want all kinds of vegetable seeds—greens, cabbage, radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, chili peppers, and green beans. Two boxes of each.
“For fruit seeds, I want watermelons, melons, strawberries, and grapes—three boxes of each.
“And grain seeds: rice, wheat, corn...”
After listing everything in one breath, Zhang Yanyan added, “Also get me a complete set of farming tools—hoes, sickles, shovels, buckets, sprayers, all the best quality.
“And various types of agricultural machinery: tillers, seeders, harvesters, pesticide sprayers, threshers, and so on. Get the best models available for all of them.”
She would definitely need them in the future, so she might as well stock up now.
The shop owner’s eyes went wide. The young woman looked so delicate and refined—she hardly seemed like someone who worked the land. Who would have thought she would buy so many seeds and farming tools?
But the customer was always right, and the owner didn’t dare ask too many questions. He immediately nodded and bowed with a smile. “Of course, miss! I’ll pack everything up right away! I’ll make sure you get the best goods, and I’ll prepare a complete set of farming tools for you. The quality is absolutely guaranteed!”
Zhang Yanyan waited until the owner had checked and packed all the items, then paid the full amount. She left the address of the warehouse she had just rented, along with her phone number.
“Please deliver everything to this address before noon today. Someone will be there to receive the shipment.”
“No problem, no problem! I guarantee it’ll arrive on time!” the owner promised readily.
After leaving the seed shop, Zhang Yanyan went to the nearby nursery. She selected saplings of apples, pears, peaches, apricots, tangerines, oranges, cherries, blueberries, and various other fruit trees, buying dozens of each kind. She left the warehouse address as well and instructed the owner to deliver them together with the seeds before turning around and driving to the livestock and poultry market next door.
The market had every kind of young livestock imaginable—chickens, ducks, geese, cattle, sheep, and pigs. Their cries rose and fell one after another, making the place lively and noisy. The air carried a faint smell of livestock and feed.
Zhang Yanyan walked into the largest livestock breeding shop in the market, one with all the proper certifications and the best reputation.
“Boss, I’d like five pairs each of chickens, ducks, and geese, with one male and one female in every pair.
“Five pairs each of goats, sheep, beef cattle, and dairy cows as well. Ten piglets and ten calves, too. They all need to be healthy and disease-free.
“Also, prepare the appropriate amount of specialized feed for them, along with a complete set of vaccines and commonly used medicines for livestock and poultry.”
The owner was just as surprised, but he didn’t dare show the slightest bit of negligence. He hurriedly replied with a smile, “Don’t worry, miss! All my young animals are just over a month old and perfectly healthy. They’ve already received their basic vaccinations. I’ll prepare the most nutritious starter feed for them, and I’ll make sure you have a full range of medicines. I guarantee they’ll grow strong and sturdy!”
After Zhang Yanyan checked the types and quantities, she paid a deposit, left the warehouse address, and arranged for delivery before two in the afternoon. She specifically instructed the owner to arrange a temperature-controlled, well-ventilated vehicle so the young animals wouldn’t run into any problems on the way. The owner agreed repeatedly.
Her final stop was the aquatic products market. Zhang Yanyan found the largest wholesale seafood shop there and bought carp, grass carp, crucian carp, silver carp, perch, and various other fish fry, as well as hundreds of freshwater shrimp and crab seedlings. She required the owner to pack everything with continuous oxygenation and left the warehouse address once again, arranging delivery at roughly the same time as the livestock and poultry.
Once all her purchases had been finalized, Zhang Yanyan found a nearby café and sat down to wait for updates from the merchants. From time to time, she received delivery confirmations from the shop owners. Only after every merchant notified her that the goods had been delivered and signed for that afternoon did she get up and drive to the warehouse district.
When she arrived at the warehouse, she first walked around it to inspect the surroundings. After confirming that no one was nearby, she opened the warehouse door and went inside, locking it behind her.
The enormous warehouse was packed to the brim. Seeds, farming tools, fruit tree saplings, young livestock and poultry, fish fry, feed, and medicines were all stacked neatly, with even the unloading area filled to capacity.
Zhang Yanyan checked once more to make sure there were no surveillance cameras inside the warehouse and no outsiders present. Then, with a slight movement of her mind, every item in the warehouse vanished without a trace, all of it taken into her Yunhua Space.
After collecting everything, she locked the warehouse door, returned the key to the warehouse management office, and drove back to the Zhang family villa.
When she entered the villa, Auntie Chen was cleaning the living room. Seeing her return, she greeted her with a smile.
“Miss, you’re back! Would you like some water and a little rest first? I can prepare dinner ahead of time.”
“No need, Auntie Chen. I’ll go back to my room and rest for a while. There’s no hurry about dinner.” Zhang Yanyan smiled and answered before quickly heading upstairs.
After locking her bedroom door, she activated her mind and entered the Yunhua Space.
She first took out all the jade and gemstone jewelry from her dressing room that she didn’t like or didn’t plan to keep, and threw it into the Spirit Spring.
The moment the jade entered the Spirit Spring, faint green streams of light appeared and slowly melted into the water. The energy within the space became a little stronger once again.
As for the jade jewelry she liked, she placed it carefully in the dressing room on the second floor of the space.
After finishing that, Zhang Yanyan rolled up her sleeves and began tending to her Yunhua Space.
She planned to use half of the three mu of farmland for vegetables and the other half for grain. With all the necessary farming tools at hand, she turned the soil, sowed the seeds, and watered the fields in an orderly fashion.
In the open land behind the mountain, she planted the fruit tree saplings. She dug holes, planted the saplings, filled the holes with soil, and watered them. Before long, the trees stood in neat rows.
She released all the fish fry into the pond. Countless lively shadows immediately appeared in the clear water.
In a clearing among the woods behind the mountain, she fenced off an area and placed the young chickens, ducks, and geese inside. At the foot of the mountain, she enclosed an even larger area and herded the calves, lambs, goats, and piglets into it. After scattering feed for them, she watched the little creatures chirping and hopping about energetically, and her heart filled with a sense of accomplishment.
With time moving ten times faster, it wouldn’t take more than a few days for the seeds to sprout, the fruit trees to take root, the livestock and poultry to grow, and the fish pond to yield a bountiful harvest.
Standing on the ridge between the fields in the Yunhua Space and gazing at everything brimming with life before her, Zhang Yanyan curved her lips into a gentle smile.
So what if the system had bonded with the wrong person? So what if she had transmigrated into the role of a cannon-fodder supporting female character?
With the Yunhua Space, she wasn’t losing out anyway. If she could take advantage of the situation a little, then she would take advantage of it as much as she could.
