"You’re quite good at this."

Dexter paused.

He had just finished inspecting the repaired section of the wall when Mira’s voice suddenly came from behind him.

Turning around, he saw that Mira had finally opened her eyes. She had turned her wheelchair slightly and was now studying the wall he had repaired. Her gaze moved across the smooth surface and there was a faint look of admiration in her eyes.

Dexter smiled. "Yeah. I’ve gotten a bit of practice over the years."

Mira looked from the wall to him.

"Practice?"

Dexter shrugged causally as he brushed some dust from his hands. "I was a servant at the Ashford Estate all my life. You learn to do a little bit of everything when you’re the person everyone calls whenever something needs fixing."

Mira slowly nodded.

For several seconds, she said nothing as her expression became thoughtful. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she studied hum.

"If you hadn’t mentioned it, I would’ve forgotten you were a servant with the Ashford family."

Dexter blinked before chuckling. "Why do you say that?"

"Isn’t it obvious?"

Mira turned her wheelchair completely toward him.

"The raw materials you somehow get your hands on. The techniques you possess. Those ridiculously high-grade meals you cook..."

She paused.

"Any one of those things would make you unusual. But all of them together?"

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

"We have established the fact thag you’re not ordinary."

Dexter remained silent.

Mira continued calmly. "And yet I’m supposed to believe that someone like you spent years living as a servant in the Ashford family despite being their firstborn?"

She tilted her head slightly, her dark eyes never leaving his face.

"Was being a servant only a cover?"

For once, Dexter didn’t immediately answer.

He looked at Mira for a but then the corner of Dexter’s mouth curled upward to an imperceptible smile.

"Does it really matter whether it was a cover or not?"

Mira stared at him.

Then she shrugged dismissively.

"You’re right."

"It doesn’t really matter."

She turned slightly toward the window, gazing outside.

"Besides, you wouldn’t tell me anyway."

Dexter’s smile faded a little.

He walked closer, the floorboards creaking softly beneath his feet. His presence seemed to fill the space around her, and yet he was careful not to crowd her.

"It’s not that I don’t want to tell you."

Mira glanced at him.

Dexter looked toward the window as he sighed.

"That part of my life is already the past."

"I’ve spent enough time thinking about what happened before. I’m trying to focus on what comes next."

Mira remained silent.

Then Dexter looked directly at her. His eyes met hers with an intensity that made her pause.

"And you three are my future."

Mira froze.

For several seconds, she simply stared at him.

She clearly hadn’t expected that answer.

A faint redness slowly appeared on her cheeks. It was subtle—just a hint of pink against her pale skin.

Mira immediately looked away.

"Okay, whatever."

Dexter stared at her.

Then his lips slowly curved into a grin.

"Are you blushing?"

Mira’s head snapped toward him. Her eyes flashed with something dangerous as she glared.

"Me?"

Dexter’s grin widened.

"Yes, you."

"Blush?"

Mira scoffed as though he had just accused her of committing some terrible crime. The sound was sharp, dismissive, and entirely unconvincing.

"Nothing could ever make me blush."

"Really?"

"Really."

Dexter took a step toward her.

Mira’s eyes immediately narrowed.

Dexter took another step.

She watched him suspiciously.

"What are you trying to do?"

Dexter stopped beside her wheelchair. He wore such an innocent expression that it immediately made Mira even more suspicious. The corners of his eyes crinkled slightly.

"Nothing."

"Dexter."

"Nothing much."

He leaned slightly closer. His voice dropped to a murmur.

"Just trying to seduce you."

Mira stared at him.

Then she sneered.

"Seduce me?"

A short laugh escaped her. It was sharp and full of disbelief.

"Ha! Have you already forgotten what I told you? You won’t succeed."

Dexter placed one hand against his chest as though her words had wounded him. He let out a dramatic sigh.

"Never say never."

"I just did."

"That doesn’t make it true."

"It does when I’m the one saying it."

Dexter chuckled.

Mira placed her hand underneath her jaw.

There was confidence written all over her face now as she stared at him like a winner.

Dexter noticed it.

And somehow, that only made him want to tease her more.

He stepped around the wheelchair until he stood directly in front of her. Mira followed him with her eyes, refusing to be the first to look away.

"Moreover," Dexter said, "we still have a month, right?"

The confidence on Mira’s face flickered for a second.

But Dexter caught it and his smile widened.

Mira immediately recovered.

"So?"

"So..." Dexter crouched slightly until their eyes were closer to the same level. "That means I still have plenty of time."

"To embarrass yourself?"

"To make you fall for me."

Mira almost laughed.

"Your confidence is impressive."

"Thank you."

"That wasn’t a compliment."

"I’ve decided to accept it as one."

Mira rolled her eyes.

"You’re hopeless."

"And yet you’re doing it again."

Her hand immediately rose toward her cheeks.

The instant she realized what she had done, Mira froze.

Dexter’s grin became unbearable. It spread across his face like sunlight, warm and infuriating.

Mira slowly lowered her hand.

"You tricked me."

"I didn’t say you were actually blushing."

Mira’s eyes sharpened as she gritted her teeth and glared at him.

"Dexter!"

He burst out laughing.

Mira’s expression darkened, but there was a giant smile.

"You have three seconds to get away from me."

"Or what?"

"Three."

Dexter straightened.

"I’m curious now."

"Two."

"What’s going to happen at zero?"

Mira’s cultivation energy suddenly stirred around her. The air grew hottter, and a faint pressure began to press against the edges of the room.

Dexter’s smile disappeared.

"One."

"Goodbye, Mira."

He immediately turned around.

"Ha!" Mira laughed victiriously.

Dexter immediately stopped in hus teacks and he slowly looked over his shoulder.

Mira had the faintest victorious smile on her face. It was small, almost imperceptible, but it was there.

That did it.

Dexter turned back toward her.

Mira’s smile vanished.

"What?"

"You know," Dexter said, walking toward her again, "for someone who claims she can’t be seduced, you seem awfully interested in whether I’m giving up."

"I couldn’t care less."

"Then why are you smiling?"

"I wasn’t."

"You were."

"You’re imagining things."
