Chapter 185 We’re Already Divorced

His Discarded Luna, the Rival's Obsession · Licensed edition

Barry nearly bit through his cheek trying not to laugh.

Two grown Alphas were locked in a silent standoff over a bowl of greens. The woman they were fighting over had already served herself and gone back to eating as if nothing had happened. Fiona couldn’t even look at them anymore.

Eira stirred the wild greens into the hot broth, took a bite, and paused.

It needed a little heat.

She glanced toward the kitchen.

"You want something spicy?" Alpha Killian asked. His deep voice rumbled close to her ear.

Eira looked up, surprised that he had been paying attention.

"If they have any," she said.

Alpha Killian turned toward Barry.

"Does the clinic have hot sauce?"

"Not that I know of."

"Then get some."

Barry opened his mouth to explain that he was a doctor, not a short-order cook. One look from Alpha Killian shut him down.

"Right. I’m on it."

He pulled out his phone and searched for the nearest grocery store. Frank’s RedHot, Tabasco, and Cholula were all available. He ordered the fastest option, then added a small container of crushed red pepper flakes in case Eira wanted more heat.

He paid extra for rush delivery and texted the driver to hurry.

Barry had barely placed the order when the front door opened again.

The delivery driver was not the first person to arrive.

An unwelcome guest was.

Alpha Sebastian stepped out of his car and looked up at the Wood family clinic.

This was his second visit. The place looked bigger than he remembered. Heavy wooden beams framed the building, and floor to ceiling windows let warm light spill onto the sidewalk.

He walked inside, told the receptionist he was looking for someone, and headed straight toward the back.

"Alpha Sebastian." Barry stepped in front of him. "Patients stay in the front area. The back is private."

Alpha Sebastian knew Barry worked for Alpha Killian. But this was Sterling territory, so he kept his voice calm.

"I’m here for Eira."

"And don’t waste your breath telling me she isn’t here. I saw Finn’s post."

Barry’s eyes widened.[Great. The kid’s picture had given everything away.]

"No invitation, no entry," Barry said. He raised his phone. "Try to force your way back there, and I’m calling the police."

Alpha Sebastian ignored him.

He had to see Eira.

If he could not see her here, he might not get another chance anywhere else. Southridge Estates had two guards and two dogs. The moment he got close, those dogs started howling.

The Silix Institute and Sterling Group were just as hard to get into. They might as well have been locked vaults.

When Alpha Sebastian tried to follow Eira, federal security intercepted him.

Even keeping an eye on Lila had led nowhere. She went to school, went home, and sometimes visited the old family estate. That was it.

If he missed Eira today, when would he get another chance?

Dr. Shaw’s project could not wait. Neither could Carter Group. That morning, Alpha Carter had hauled Alpha Sebastian into his office and given him one clear order: close the deal before the annual council meeting.

He was not asking for a miracle. He just wanted Alpha Sebastian to bring back something instead of showing up empty-handed.

Alpha Sebastian was more desperate than anyone realized. He had already rehearsed what he would say. He would apologize, cut Serena off for good, and make sure his family never went near Eira again.

She would forgive him. Their feelings would come back. His career would get back on track.

Then he stepped into the back room and stopped cold.

Eira and Alpha Killian sat close together on the bench by the window, their shoulders nearly touching in the warm light.

Alpha Killian turned toward her.

A moment later, Eira looked up at him.

From where Alpha Sebastian stood, they looked far too comfortable together.

Heat rushed behind his eyes. His wolf snarled beneath his skin.

"Eira!"

The entire table fell silent.

Barry came in right behind him."I tried to stop him."

Alpha Sebastian’s jaw tightened as he glared at Eira and Alpha Killian sitting shoulder to shoulder.

Finn frowned. "What are you doing here?"

Fiona glanced at her watch. "It’s not even three. Shouldn’t you be at the office?"

She had once thought soft-spoken Alpha Sebastian was a much better man than cold, sharp-tongued Alpha Killian. Turns out, she had backed the wrong wolf.

Alpha Sebastian barely acknowledged either of them. He walked around the table and reached for Eira’s arm.

She pulled away before he could touch her.

His hand closed around nothing.

Alpha Killian looked up at him. His voice was calm, flat, and cold.

"And what exactly does Alpha Sebastian think he’s doing?"

Alpha Sebastian was the one standing over them, but the moment those silver-gray eyes locked onto his, a chill ran down his spine.

"Alpha Killian, this is between Eira and me. It’s a family matter."

"A family matter?" Eira’s brow furrowed. "What family could we possibly have left?"

"Eira." Alpha Sebastian’s control started to crack. "I know you’re angry. Whatever this is, we can talk about it at home."

Mrs. Wood’s expression hardened.

"Alpha Sebastian, is it?" she said. "The first time you barged into my clinic, you didn’t ask how Eira was doing. You went straight to blaming her. Now you’re back, trying to pull her out of here like she’s supposed to jump whenever you snap your fingers. What makes you think she belongs to you?"

Alpha Sebastian’s face tightened.

She was right. Both times, he had lost his temper.

"Sebastian."Eira’s voice cut through the room.Your parents still haven’t told you, have they?"

Alpha Sebastian went still.

"That we’re already divorced."
